Election day is Tuesday, November 7th and will be here before you know it! It’s a good idea to make a plan for how and when you will vote, especially since there are more options this year than ever. We’ve outlined those options below, but if you like more details, go to the city’s Election Commission page.

The deadline to register to vote is Wednesday, October 28th, 2023 at 8pm. To check your registration status, click here.


Early Voting

By Mail

The deadline to request a ballot for the November 7, 2023 Municipal Election is Tuesday, October 31st at 5:00 p.m.

  1. Complete and send in a Vote by Mail Application.

  2. Vote when your ballot arrives

  3. Return your voted and sealed ballot to the Cambridge Election Commission by mail, to a ballot drop box, or in person.

Official ballot drop boxes will be available at the following six locations beginning Friday, October 13, 2023 through Monday, November 6, 2023 at 8 p.m. The drop boxes will be open 24/7.

  • City Hall - Near the back door of the building located at 795 Massachusetts Avenue

  • Morse School - Near the front entrance of the building located at 40 Granite Street

  • Cambridge Police Headquarters – Near the front of the building located at 125 6th Street

  • Maria L. Baldwin School – Right-side of the Oxford Street entrance of the building located at 85 Oxford Street

  • O’Neill Library - Adjacent to the entrance stairs of the building located at 70 Rindge Avenue

  • Coffon Building – Near the front of the building located at 51 Inman Street

Early In Person

Any registered voter can vote early. Unlike Election Day, you are not assigned to a polling location during the early voting period. The Election Commission office at 51 Inman Street will NOT be an early voting location for this election. You can choose any of the following locations:

Cambridge Water Department - 250 Fresh Pond Parkway
Main Library - 449 Broadway
Valente Library - 826 Cambridge Street, side entrance on Berkshire Street

The hours are as follows:

Saturday, October 28th, 9 am to 3 pm
Sunday, October 29th, 9 am to 3 pm
Monday, October 30th, 8:30 am to 8 pm
Tuesday, October 31st, 8:30 am to 5 pm
Wednesday, November 1st, 8:30 am to 5 pm
Thursday, November 2nd, 8:30 am to 5 pm
Friday, November 3rd, 8:30 am - Noon

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on November 7th. For the 2023 election, some voting locations have been changed, so use this link to quickly find your voting location before you head out!
